These two hand-cut strip cards of Lou Gehrig and Harry Heilmann were each once part of two sheets of 25 cards apiece; known as 'moviecards', this particular issue (W565) had a total of 50 cards, divided into two sheets, with most cards designed as playing cards. There are only four baseball players represented among the fifty 1920s-era celebrities: Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Al Simmons and Harry Heilmann, all HOFers. The Heilmann card is the only one on the black sheet (clubs and spades), the other three are part of the red sheet. The Gehrig card has been graded VG (3) or Very Good by SGC, and the Heilmann card authenticated (A) due to slight miscut. Heilmann's name also misspelled, very typical of 1920s-era strip cards. A very interesting pair of cards, own half the set by purchasing this lot.
