Post Cereal's baseball card promotion was tremendously popular when launched in the early 1960s. One can imagine the amount of cereal consumed for no other reason than to obtain the cards that were structurally integral to the box. Despite the success of the actual cards, only a few of these 'Pinwheel' promotional displays have surfaced, especially in this condition. The display itself measures approximately 28 in diameter and features nine cards (in larger format) and is made of corrugated pasteboard with glossy surfaces. The display piece itself is two-sided with the same image replicated on both sides. Featured prominently are Hall-of-Famers Willie Mays, Whitey Ford and Nellie Fox. Due to the immense size and vulnerable shape, there is some minor wear at the card edges. This awesome advertising piece should be of great interest to memorabilia collectors and card collectors alike. Technically grades VG-EX but presents much better. Comes in a custom Lucite holder designed to preserve the shape and integrity of this rarely seen and much coveted piece of card collecting history.
