Fans of Gil Hodges should love this: two Danbury Mint display pieces featuring figurines of both the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers and the 1969 New York Mets. In both cases, the year of the team was also each franchise's first World Championship year: the long suffering 'Boys of Summer' Dodgers finally won after seven losing World Series appearances, and the Mets were of course the 'lovable losers' and joke of the 1960s until this 'Miracle Mets' team won in '69. The Dodger lineup is chock full of HOFers: Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, and manager Walter Alston. Also, near-HOFer Gil Hodges, as well as MVP pitcher Don Newcombe. The Mets team has only Tom Seaver as the sole Hall-of-Fame representative, but many Met stars grace this display as well like manager Hodges, Tommie Agee, Ron Swoboda, Cleon Jones, and more. Both pieces approximately 22" long, made from wood and plastic, and hand-painted. Each display piece accompanied by a COA. Due to their delicate nature, additional insurance may be required. Awesome pair of nostalgic baseball items can be yours!
