The modern era of football arguably begins in 1967 with Super Bowl I between Green Bay and Kansas City. Thus the beginning of the merger of the AFL and NFL, which would lead to football's dominance in the 1970s and '80s as the number one spectator sport in the United States. Many Hall-of-Fame players and stars have shaped this era. Twenty-eight (29) have signed mini-helmets in this lot. The Pro HOFers include: Dick Butkus, Joe Namath, Craig Morton, Larry Csonka, Greg Landry, Art Shell, Ron Yary, Elvin Bethea, Ken Stabler, 'Mean Joe' Greene, Roger Wehrli, Charlie Joiner, Jim Langer, Mel Blount, Terry Bradshaw, Jim Plunkett, John Riggins, Franco Harris, John Hannah, Dave Casper, John Stallworth and O.J. Simpson. Other star players of college and pro football have signed helmets: Jack Snow, L.C. Greenwood, Mark Moseley, Harvey Martin, Ed 'Too Tall' Jones, Butch Johnson and Billy Sims.
