After the disaster of Hurricane Katrina in September of 2005, New Orleans was forced to close the Louisiana Superdome for a full year. On September 25th 2006, amid pomp and circumstance, the Superdome was reopened with an NFL game played between the Saints and Atlanta Falcons. This football is the game ball from this game, handled often by promising running back Reggie Bush during his own rookie season with the Saints. Ball does show some mild wear. Part of the ball has been repainted white and is stickered with Falcon and Saint helmets and the following statements: "Superdome Reopening Game Ball REGGIE BUSH Saints 23 ~ Falcons 3 Monday, September 25, 2006 Seize the Second"'. The ball is unsigned. An extraordinary piece of modern memorabilia.
