Two Southern Coin Silver Spoons,
the first a tablespoon (.75 troy oz., 7.5") marked "R.A. Baird & Co." and "Pure Coin" with initials "P.H." on handle. George Cutten's "Silversmiths of North Carolina" places this maker in Raleigh, 1805; the second item is a serving spoon (1.60 troy oz., 8.5") marked "A. Wilcox" and having a "PMG" monogram and a "G" on the handle's underside with an "LLT" monogram on the handle's top side. Wilcox, a native of Connecticut, worked out of Fayetteville, NC between 1818 and 1824, when he moved back to the North. Where this spoon was made is unknown.

Condition report

The Wilcox serving spoon's bowl is quite worn from heavy use.
