Emile Baraize (Fr., 20th c.), The Tower,
oil on board, signed lower right "E. Baraize," a dark tower is silhouetted against a light sky, small dwellings and rocky outcroppings encircle the base, housed in a contemporary gilt wood frame. Emile Baraize was a famous French Egyptologist who was the first to conduct a modern excavation and restoration of the Sphinx between 1925 and 1934. He was also involved in excavations of the Pyramids. DOA 18" x 15"; SS 13" x 10"
