Late Classical Southern Secretary Bureau,
ca. 1830-1840, Santa Domingo mahogany veneers over poplar, of a unique design, the top is composed of a vertical column on each side with a central ogee framed looking glass, the columns having a single hinged glazed door with shelved interior, the whole crowned with two imposing cyma scrolls. The fall front opens to reveal a felt writing surface over a well flanked by pin and ink trays, the left one over a concealed compartment. The bureau base has two single doors each with applied molding and an interior with two pull out drawers, raised on circular feet with scalloped apron. 94.5" x 24.25" x 44.75"
