Two Band Samplers, 19th c.,
the first with row of upper and lower case alphabet worked in alternating blue and natural on open weave, signed "Ellsa Boardman, 8 ys/ dated Aug 24 1813." Housed in walnut frame with gilt liner, DOA: 12.75" x 10", SS: 12" x 9.25". The second worked in bright red and green, with rows of alphabet and numerals, decorative border lines of Greek key, strawberries, and geometrics separating rows, signed "Mary J. Brown, 1856," with paper label en verso on frame, "A.C.H.P frame, British Manufacture, Hand made," In simple black frame, DOA 17.25" x 8"; SS 17" x 7.75"
