A 19TH CENTURY PAIR OF YORUBA SHANGO SHRINE WOOD FIGURES, Nigeria, each carved wearing the Shango knife symbol headdress above almond shaped inset eyes, flared nose, and closed mouth, one holding a ceremonial flute, the female, holding her breasts, carved in kneeling position on a circular incorporated plinth with cylindrical stems, on a rectangular block painted wood pedestal. Height: 23 3/4". (2)
