American folk-carved cane, very possibly of Southern African-American origin, second half 19th Century; carved from a single piece of dark brown fruitwood covered with a remarkable series of burl growths, many carved in relief with frogs, wolves, and other animals, smooth areas of the shaft additionally carved with a human figure, palm tree, other foliage, a lizard, etc., tipped with a spiked iron ferrule, 36 1/2" H.

Deep rubbed patina and wear associated with prolonged use. Cap missing; couple of chips on burl. Submit inquiry for further details.
