The 1874 $50 Legal Tender is a rare breed with the red double "Ls" on the face. Before this example appeared there were 39 reported. Seven of those are listed as UNC, with only two certified, and both of those are in the same serial number range as this note. I looked very carefully at this note, out of a holder, and although it does have slight handling and original wrinkles, they only called it 58 PPQ. Of course it is original with excellent paper quality. While it probably won't bring Gem money, it should be a real prize for any collector that likes to get the best available. Graded Ch. Abt. New 58 PPQ by PCGS.
