New Hampshire , 3 Pounds    Aug. 24, 1775 

This note brought $2,025 in an April 1997 sale, Lot 251, by E.A.N. It represents a scarce and popular piece of Colonial paper money. There is some difference of opinion among experts as to whether these 30 Shillings notes were actual counterfeits or simply an unauthorized reissue. The signatures seem to always appear as genuine and identical to those found on issues for which no counterfeits exist.
