This mining town was a rough and tumble place when the First National Bank opened its doors in March 1879. Apparently, some of that dishonesty found its way to the bank's management, forcing it into receivership in 1884. Barely circulated, but with paper that is slightly toned. Only four notes are known, and this great piece has a pedigree to the Amon Carter Collection. It has been a full eight years since a note on this bank has appeared at auction. That example was a VG and it brought nearly $8,000.
