Watercolors Attributed to Rufus Porter, American, ca 1820, watercolor, pen and ink on paper. Two half-length profile portraits, facing each other. Both have purchaser's labels on verso and are in period (likely original) gilt painted frames having églomisé mats with decorated gilt oval openings; 5" x 4".

Rufus Porter (1792-1884), from Bridgton, Maine, painted small watercolor portraits in his early years. He later traveled throughout New England, painting landscapes on walls of homes.

Overall even toning, mats have craquelure.
