Pair of ledger books for Turner Ashby’s Cavalry and Stonewall Jackson’s Brigade, includes: Three hundred page ledger book, with ink manuscript for the years 1859-1862 and another ledger book with the same names. These ledgers record approximately 140 Confederate soldiers from primarily the 7th, 12th, 18th, 23rd Virginia Cavalry and just as many from the 10th & 33rd Virginia Infantry [Stonewall Brigade] and some from the Star Artillery. Many of the 140 who were soldiers have numerous transactions recorded and have different listing throughout. Most of the transactions are for 1859-61, and records the trade in poultry, ham, firewood etc. with the residents of the Shendandoah Valley. A nice Shenandoah Valley business group.
