Lithgow" 2p. octavo, Chesterfield, Virginia, August 9, 1862, and reads in part: "...I am very much afraid that Petersburg will fall into the hands of the enemy and Frances and her children would be certain go off as I certainly believe that the boy William is with McClellan’s Army and his object is to get them off, tehy are all that I have a right to for life, if I loose them, I loose my support in my old age..." VG.
