A rare war-date partly-printed Confederate scout's document, 1p. 4to., April 21, [1864], Bristol, Tenn. for Private Robert Crutchfield, Co. D, 10th Kentucky Mounted Rifles, read, in part: "…for commutation of rations for self while on scout duty by order of Lt. Gen'l. Longstreet from March 27 1864 to April 12, 1864. 16 days at $1.00 pr day…". Certified and signed 1st Lt. James L. Rogers, 10th Kentucky Mounted Rifles as commander of the scouts while being approved and signed by Captain John N. Galleher a. a. g. to Gen. Simon Buckner. Worthy of further research since it is has been documented that Gen. Longstreet was fond of employing spies who would operate behind enemy lines. Fine.
