A very colorful finely engraved partly-printed Union donation document, 1p. oblong 4to., boldly entitled in red lettering: "CITY OF BOSTON.", Boston, 1861, reading, in part: "This Certifies that Mrs. Stephen Brown has given 30 pairs of socks & one pr drawers for the soldiers who leave Boston under the requisition of the President of the United States…". Boldly signed with a flourish by Mrs. Harrison Gray Otis for the committee on military donations. Removed from scrap album with residual paper remaining attached to the verso with light toning, else very good.
