A great war-date New York Tribune, Oct. 1, 1862, eight page, newspaper detailing the battles of Antietam and South Mountain. Bold headlines read: "1,200 REBELS CAPTURED and PAROLEDTHE BATTLES OF SOUTH MOUNTAIN AND ANTIETAMOFFICIAL REPORT OF GEN. MCCLELLANTHE REBEL LOSS OVER 25,000..."Other articles also include: "News from Richmond-Accounts of the Battle of Antietam-A Victory ClaimedThanks of Maryland to Gen. McClellan and his ArmyRebel Sick and Wounded Received in HospitalKentuckians Flocking to the Rebel Army". Inside the newspaper are nearly two full columns listing by name the Union soldiers killed while giving a numeric count of those wounded. Much more interesting content. Minor spotting and toning, else very good.
