Autograph Letter Signed, "George W. Smith, Co. A, 100th Division 3rd Regt. Pa. Vol. 1st Division 3rd Brigade, 9 A.C., Camp Dick Robinson, Kentucky", 4p. octavo, on McClellan lettersheet, April 17, 1863, and reads in part: "...I am driving team and we have a good time and I would not take my discharge if they would give it to me...I am going to get a wife from some rich old farmer in this Kentucky land when the war is over. I go out in the country after feed for our mules and I have very nice times. There is a gal that I have got a notion to put my arm around out where we get oats...there is about 75 men in our company there is 10 driving team in the corps. We had four men killed and our captain three or four wounded in our company and 7 or 8 dead and 5 or 6 deserted and 20 or 30 discharged..." About VG...plus; ALS, George W.
