Galletz", 4p. quarto, Head Inft’y, 1st Intep’t Regt, Nashville, Tennessee, May 12, 1863, and reads in part: "...as for my opininos about the negor I think those belonging to Rebels should be confiscated put upon our forts make them build them do all the dirty work there is to be done and I also go in for arming the Negro form them into Brigades & dividions by themselves and make them stand the blunt of this war for they are the ones who brought this thing about and there is no means too good to not be used to crush this hellish cursed infernal Rebellion and I say that if the negro will save the lives of white men ...if their is Negroes enough to form enough troops to stop the conscription let it be done..."
