Autograph Document Signed "Henry C. Finney Capt & A.A.G." and countersigned as official by "Louis L. Cox" Lt. & A.A.A.G., 1p. quarto, Head Quarters 2d Division 4th A.C., In the Field near Dallas, Geo. June 3, 1864, this circular issued to the Commanding Officer of the 57th Indiana Volunteers, reads in part: "...It has come to the knowledge of the General Commanding the Division that some of the men, and even Officers of this Division have been found exchanging papers and holding intercourse with the Enemy confronting us. This is in strict disobedience to orders often published. Any Officer or soldier found communicating with, exchanging papers or in anywise holding intercourse with the Enemy will be promptly arrested and severly punished...." About VG.
