MORGAN, Edwin Denison (1806-1881) New Yorker who actively supported the Lincoln administration, first as a Republican Governor 1859-1863, then as Senator 1863-1869. Autograph Endorsement Signed, "E.D. Morgan" on verso of letter written on the U.S. Str. Albatross in Portsmouth Navy Yard. Morgan writes "This officer is highly spoken of by his neighbors who deem his request to be ordered to the Albatross proper..." Good.
