Buckingham", 1p. 8vo., each, Washington to George Sherman, in part: "…[Dec. 19, 1873]…I leave the city in a few minutes for home & on my return I will give attention to the subject…[Jan. 20, 1874]…just before I left Washington I received your favor relating to James A. Norton (1843-1912). I hardly trust it will be best to place it in the hands of the Secretary of the Navy for we can do nothing unless Norton's case comes under the provision of some law now in force. I will consult with Rep. Kellogg & we will do what we can in the case…". Worthy of further research. Light soiling, else very good.
