IRVINE, William (1741-1804) was an Irish-American physician, soldier, and statesman from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He served as a brigadier general in the Continental Army and represented Pennsylvania in both the Continental Congress (1787–88) and the United States House of Representatives (1793–1795). Autograph Letter Signed, "Wm. Irvine" 1p. quarto, Superintendants Office of Military Stores, September 12, 1803, addressedto George Simpson, Cashier of Bank United States, and reads "Be pleased to deliver to the bearer, the account you were so good to say should be furnished, which the Secretary of War requested me to wait on you for..."
