19th Century Sons of the Revolution Medal.

Sign In to see what this sold for

A nice circa 1890 bronze colored medal, finely engraved: "Massachusetts, Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Libertas et Patria.", with a highly detailed rendering of Massachusetts coat of arms and suspended from a yellow and blue silk ribbon. In October 1891 nearly thirty men assembled at Fanenil Hall, Boston in order to found that state's order of the Sons of the Revolution. First organized in New York City, the Sons sought to honor and celebrate the memory of their member's Revolutionary War ancestors. From the personal collection of Civil War soldier and ironclad sailor, Calvin W. Poole of Rockport, Massachusetts. Some wear affecting the ribbon, else very good.
