Autograph Letter Signed "John Rathbone" 1-1/4p. folio, New York, October 14, 1807, addressed to Joseph Potter of Rhode Island, and reads in part: "...My Black girl runaway on Monday evening last, if I should find her which I think probable, will it suit you to take her for a time, or procure some good place in the country for her, wages is no object for the present, but I wish to put her away from bad company, until I can other wise provide, she is spry and active, and is capable of enduring much service to a family..."
