Wounded Illinois Soldier CDV Showing Severe Leg Wo

A great war-date CDV showing an armed Union soldier from Macomb, Illinois who appears to have had a very sever leg or ankle wound since his right boot and pant leg do not seem to fit properly. Perhaps, this is an image of Pvt. James I. Dillon Co. B, 16th Illinois who had his right leg amputated following being wounded during the battle of Bentonville, N. C. on March 20, 1865. Dillon is the only soldier listed from that town showing a right leg wound, but whomever he is one can only imagine the sights he had seen! Published by Thomas & Pearson, [Macomb, Ill.]. Slightly trimmed with soiling, else very good.
