Edmund Morison Wimperis (1835-1900) A harvesting scene with figures loading a cart, watercolour, signed with initials and dated '84, 34 cm x 50 cm Wimperis was born in Chester and began his career as a wood engraver. He turned to watercolour landscape painting in the 1870s and was elected a member of the New Watercolour Society in 1875. He became the Society's president in 1895. He was technically very able and had a flowing style with which he could capture light and atmosphere superbly.
