Pen-and ink drawing of Polychrome being pursued by General Guph and the Nome King for Tik Tok of Oz (1914) by L. Frank Baum. 415 x 300 mm. Framed. John R. Neill succeeded W. W. Denslow as the Imperial Illustrator of Oz. He illustrated 35 Oz Books, three of which he wrote himself. His contribution is linked to Oz as indelibly as L. Frank Baum's. Tik Tok of Oz was the eighth title in the series, based on Baum's 1913 musical extravaganza The Tik Tok Man of Oz that was a pastiche of earlier stories.
