Modern quarter calf over marbled paper boards, new endleaves, wide margined copy. Condition: repair to corner of volume I title page, minor rubbing and offsetting. Provenance: Harvard Institute of Geographical Exploration (blindstamp). first edition. Valentia (1769-1844) journied through modern Sri Lanka and India, and crossed to Ethiopia and Egypt. Henry Salt (1720-1827) accompanied him and provided the illustrations for the Valentia's Text.
