ZIGLER POTTERY (ATTRIBUTED), TIMBERVILLE, VA INCISED SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE CROCK, approximately 1 gallon, rounded rim with three bold rings below, neatly inscribed "For a handsome young milk maid" in script below the rim. Possibly Andrew Coffman, the first potter recorded to have worked at John Zigler's pottery. Many examples of Coffman family pottery exists with incised inscriptions. Second quarter 19th century. 8" h, 7 1/2" dia rim.
