MANGANESE AND LEAD-GLAZED MOLDED EARTHENWARE PITCHER, each side simply decorated with what appears to be tulips. Probably Shenandoah Valley of VA, possibly Emanuel Suter or Isaac Good. Fourth quarter 19th century. 6 5/8" h overall, 4" dia base.
Reference: . Provenance: Found in Rockingham Co., VA. Note: This pitcher's molded decoration is very similar to that found on the two cream pitchers illustrated in Kaufman's {{Heatwole and Suter Pottery}}, p. 40, figs. 63 & 63A, both of which descended in the Suter family. The glaze seen on this pitcher is virtually identical to the wash pitcher also illustrated by Kaufman, p. 23, fig. VI, and by Comstock, p. 338, fig. 6.58.
