MID-ATLANTIC PAINT DECORATED YELLOW PINE SLIDE-TOP BOX OF LARGE PROPORTIONS, the raised-panel lid featuring a polychrome painted vine-like flower rising from an urn on a blue ground, the dovetailed box with complex top moldings painted blue, the molded-edge base is secured with wooden pins and also painted blue, the sides and ends with a brown grain-painted surface, one end painted with "APD 1821", open interior. Possibly Virginia. First quarter 19th century. 9 1/4" h, 10" x 28".
