Unsigned [School of Giovanni Panini], oil on canvas, Classical landscape with Ruins, 18 C. [Early 20C. hand-carved frame with patinated gilt surface, and carved plaque: "1691 Pannini 1764"] 45 1/4h 56 3/4w=image ; 51 1/4h x 62 3/4w=frame [note: old and faint stencil inscripton on stretcher verso: a series of six alphanumerics]

UV analysis: repaired approx. 4" tear and associated inpainting above figure, bottom center; approx 1" tear and associated inpainting in sky above arch; very minor and sporadic inpainting toward right edge; canvas adhered long ago to another canvas panel; wrinkling of canvas at top right and side edges; losses to edge of original canvas, bottom right corner; moderate crazing of paint surface, with minor and sporadic losses, on left flank of arch, and some crazing to the left of the full columns; varnish separation in sky.
