Publisher: J. Debrett (London)
Printing Year: 1791-1792
Condition/Details: Bound in antique marbled boards with irregularly-cut half leather, this very scarce early volume contains four important governmental publications printed by J. Debrett. These printings -- the second of which is in French -- are beautifully typeset in typical 18th Century typefaces with fancy ligatures on fine deckled pages. The Plan of the New Constitution for the United States contains a preface written by the editor that speaks of the "sudden rise of a new empire in the world"; the constitution was adopted only five years previous. The volume shows beautifully with some mild external age/wear; the pages are all intact with light toning. The front board appears slightly loose from the text block although the book is solidly intact and squarely bound. The volume bears two nicely inscribed period inscriptions, one with the name of Noah Wood, a city father of Syracuse, New York. The book measures approximately 5.25" x 9" and, in addition to the independently numbered components, includes a catalog of other books printed for J. Debrett. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
