Title: "Logalbum U.S.S. Oglala" Hawaii ship log and photograph album
Printing Year: c1930s Condition/Details: Bound in soft illustrated leather, this one-of-a-kind album contains a ship log and diary, as well as several pages of autographs, from the U.S.S. Oglala, a Navy minelayer stationed at Pearl Harbor that helped to plant the anti-submarine mine barrage in the North Sea during the first World War and was later damaged in the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor in 1941. The second part of the album contains over 100 photographs, mainly of Hawaii. These images include pictures of Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Naval buildings, volcanoes, and informal portraits of many sailors and island natives. The volume shows light external wear, and contains solidly bound black album pages with photo corners. The photographs themselves, most of which are in a 2.5"x4" format, are generally well preserved, with fading and discoloration ranging from very mild to moderate. Many of the photographs include period notations in pen. The book measures approximately 12" x 8". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
