Notes: Bound in marbled boards with three-quarter emerald leather, this fancy set was owned by the famous English historian Francis Palgrave. The set shows his signature on the title page on each book and also on the half title of the first volume; there are also notations in pen throughout the text. The set is accompanied by an handwritten signed letter from Palgrave dated 1852. The volumes show mild external wear, and are solidly bound with clean, lightly age toned pages; part of page 257 of the first volume is absent. There are library pockets on the endpapers. The books measure approximately 6" x 9". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $8.50
