child seated in a landscape holding flowers, label on back edge of frame identifies sitter as "Louise Prestou [or Preston] circa 1810 N.Y.C. married into Maylilleg(?) family of South Coventry Ct.", unsigned, oil on canvas, New England, circa 1840, 29-7/8 x 25 in.; original 19th century gilt wood frame. Lined, two periods of restoration including retouch of eyes, some in face, background and edges, craquelure, flaking, varnish yellowed, percentage undetermined; front of frame with evidence of original water gilt surface.
