walnut with yellow pine secondary throughout, upper section with broken scroll pediment and stylized fan carving, two glazed doors with scrolled mullions flanked by chevrons and reeded quarter columns, interior of upper case with traces original powder blue paint, lower section with upper drawer fitted with desk interior centering a carved and tiger maple inlaid prospect door over three long drawers with shield inlaid escutcheons, original deeply scalloped skirt covered by later skirt molding, bracket feet, attributed to Greenville/Spartanburg area, South Carolina, circa 1800, 91-1/2 x 49 x 24-1/4 in. Upper case lacking finials and with later finial plinth, two glass panels cracked, long drawers with party replaced bottoms, original deeply scalloped skirt covered by later skirt molding, replaced bracket feet, desk interior drawers replaced, prospect door possibly original, other desk interior restorations, bed molding for upper case replaced (saw marks on backboard suggest may have been single-case construction(?)), brasses replaced, other patches, cracks and repairs throughout.
