Tiger maple work table,

cherry top, two dovetailed drawers with tiger maple facings and poplar secondary, upper door fitted with dividers and inscribed on bottom "Presented to Matilda Balliet(?) by her mother Mrs. Mary Anna Hackenberg 1880", poplar paneled sides and back, turned legs, 28-3/4 x 20-1/4 x 18-1/4 in. Refinished, some screws for top reset, minor chips and losses to drawer divider, legs and feet. Provenance: Hand written note accompanies table, "This sewing stand was made by John Peter Hackenberg and given to his wife Anna Mary Hain Hackenberg. Likely taken from Freeburg, PA to White Pigeon, Mich. and later to Milton, PA…"; a Greenwich, Connecticut Private Collection.
