Anna Huntington bronze

Sign In to see what this sold for

(Anna Vaughn Hyatt Huntington, N.A., Connecticut, 1876-1973), alligator, signed in base "A.H. Huntington 1968", 5-5/8 x 12-3/4 x 9-1/2 in. Some pitting, dark brown patina. Provenance: Deaccessioned from a South Carolina Museum. In 1931, philanthropists Anna Hyatt and Archer Milton Huntington provided the design and grounds for what has become one of the most comprehensive American figural sculpture collections. Brookgreen Gardens in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina, houses not only works by Anna Huntington but by 300 other artists. This bronze alligator is possibly one of a kind, as Huntington did pieces for instruction and school children.
