cherry trees in bloom, signed lower right "M.L. McLaughlin", attributed to Mary Louise McLaughlin, Ohio, 1847-1939, oil on canvas, 12 x 15-3/8 in.; original early 20th century carved and gold painted wood frame with label verso "Aker & Co., Washington, D.C." Original stretcher and tacking edge, grime. Mary Louise McLaughlin was known for her pottery decorating and was founder of Cincinnati Pottery Club in 1879. The club rented studio space at the Rookwood pottery but was later evicted because of a perceived conflict of interest.
