(French, 1833-1906), "Surprise", female nude grasping a garment to her breast on a naturalistic base, plate with title, inscribed "Bouret" with two foundry stamps including "Pinedo, Paris…" and "Bronze Garanti Au Titre, Paris", two stamped Rs, "Exp.on. Des Beaux-Arts" on base plate, brown to gold patina, 36 in. Abrasions to proper right hip, back of proper right leg, proper left toe. Provenance: Property of a Charleston Lady
