Walter Scott, [The Border Antiquities of England and Scotland,] Longman, Hurst, et al., London, first edition, 1814 (Volume I), 1817 (Volume II), 95 steel engravings by John Greig, full straight grain dark green leather, elaborate gilt decoration, all edges gilt, fore edges painted with village scenes, 10-1/2 x 8-3/4 in. Both with moderate edge wear, slight separation top front hinge of volume one, light toning and foxing, slight fading to paintings. Provenance: Bookplates inside front boards, "Pull Court Library", "Richard Lane Freer" and "The Bequest of the Venerable Archdeacon Freer to E.R. Dowdeswell, 1863". Property of a Charleston Lady
