sinew and thread sewn buckskin jacket with fringe, oversized lapel with embroidered geometric and abstract floral designs, interior pocket on left breast, 38 x 29-1/4 in.; felted wool trousers with drop front opening and quilled buckskin fringe, 45 x 18 in., American or Canadian, possibly Chippewa or Cree, mid 19th century; with pamphlet "The Old Patterson Mansion", which details General Patterson's travels and encounters with Native American tribes, (three pieces). Jacket with four repaired holes (largest 3/4 in.), two mended 2 in. tears, mended tear on left cuff, other small holes, soiling and stains; trousers lacking buttons, 1-1/2 x 1 in. hole on back of left leg, pest damage, stains, significant losses to quill on fringe. Provenance: Formerly the collection of General Robert Patterson.
