dark blue coat with collar insignia for first infantry and "LA", captain shoulder epaulet with two bars, label in pants for "Walker & Zeller, New Orleans 8-25-98"; dark green coat with collar marked "LA 1", label for "Henderson Ames Co. Kalamazoo, Michigan", coat with label for Thomas D. Wharton, matching blue trousers with white stripe; khaki brown Spanish American War tunic with blue stripe and trim, infantry jacket with first lieutenant epaulet bars, matching trousers, reputed to be made by M. C. Lilley & Co., Columbus, OH and owned by T. D. Wharton; [generally good condition one button missing on pocket;] canvas bag, probably a mess kit, written in hand on back "Lt. T.D. Wharton, Company "A", 1st L.A. Regt.", 9 x 10 in. (closed), [canvas with normal wear, holes and stains, losses to leather strap,] (seven pieces). Accompanying lot muster roll dated 1898.
