Cowan, Newark, New Jersey", buttons by various makers, [generally good condition, minor fading and wear;] signal corps jacket with orange trim, "4" on collar, nine buttons, inspection stencil "Inspected 1(?) 01 N.C.N.Y.", stenciled label blacked out, probably Philadelphia, [stains, some losses;] black tunic with white trim, collar with "1", nine buttons Waterbury Button Co., lining marked "Charles Christie & Co…New York City", [generally good condition, scattered stains;] black tunic with yellow trim, "2" on collar, nine buttons by Hortsman Bros. & Co. Phila., interior inspection stencil "Cowles…Philadelphia, Pa.", [lining with extensive repairs and losses, otherwise good condition.] All with scattered pest damage. Provenance: Private Collection
