Name of Model: Blackburn Skua Kit #: 7901 Type of Box: Printed, folding tray Date of Model: 1954 Condition of Box: Very good Condition of Model: Very good Comments: This only kit ever made of the Skua, named after a seabird similar to the seagull. The Skua was a carrier-based aircraft which combinedthe functions of dive-bomber and fighter. It was designed in the mid-1930s and saw service in the early part of WWII. There was only one successful Skua ace, British Royal Navy LT. W.R. Lucy. He scored 7 victories, all in a Skua, but was lost at sea while attacking bombers threatening the fleet. There is a great article in the Dec. 2007 issue of the English magazine "Aeroplane" that has the complete story of the Skua and its successor the Blackburn R.O.C. This kit is a very good mold of an unsuccessful fighter. Scale: 1/72
